How does the process work and what can I expect?
Once a litter has been born and we have a better idea of colors and genders, we will contact those on our waiting list first before posting any availability. Once a prospective buyer has been notified, they must complete an application before being approved.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PUPPY PRICES ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE.
Non-refundable Service Fee will be required to reserve a puppy. This fee will be placed after puppies arrive so I can ensure that all puppies are still thriving.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND SERVICE FEE without speaking to us first.
The remainder of the balance must be paid in full BEFORE the new owner takes possession.
We will not allow our puppies to leave if you bring a check, or incomplete payment at pick-up.
We also DO NOT use PayPal, Venmo, or other Cash Apps as these do not support the sale of live animals.

Puppy picks are generally around 7-8 weeks old so that personality, conformation, and drive can be evaluated.
Salty Duck Labradors reserves the right of first picks on all litters (meaning that we may keep back one or several puppies from a litter to remain in our program or place in guardian/co-owned homes). Should we decide to keep back a puppy/puppies, puppy picks may be delayed until closer to 8 weeks or even after (which may delay the placement of some puppies).
All sires and dams will have clearances certified by OFA and full breed specific genetic panels, so that ethical and responsible breeding decisions can be made to ensure the health of future puppies.
*
We do not offer airline shipping or ground transportation for our puppies. All puppies must be picked up by the buyers and not a 3rd party (we will sit together to go over the specifics of the contract and sign). The dog will be registered into the name of the person(s) completing the contract. For those that would like to fly their puppies home in cabin, arrangements can be made ahead of time to meet new owners at the airport.

Baltimore/Washington International (2 hours away) & Philadelphia International (1.5 hours away) are our two closest airports

Puppies will be placed with families on Limited Registration. This means the puppy will be AKC registered, but with NO BREEDING RIGHTS & a spay/neuter requirement. We require waiting until the dog is
18 - 24 months of age (maturity) to avoid potential health risks associated with early spay/neuter. Dogs placed on limited registration can still participate in many AKC events such as hunt titles, field trials, obedience, therapy, etc.
*
Finding the right home for our puppies/dogs is extremely important to us. Questions from potential buyers are encouraged and welcomed. Feel free to follow the links under each of our dogs to verify health clearances. In the event that a family can no longer care for their puppy/dog for any reason, it should be returned to Salty Duck Labradors.

All puppies receive Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) to better support their growing immune system, response to stressors, and promote better overall health as they mature. Puppies will be dewormed at (2, 4, 6 & 8 weeks), have had first round of age appropriate vaccinations, health checked by vet, & microchipped (prepaid & implanted at about 7 weeks, but registered to the new owner after placement to ensure that puppy is paid for in full & new home works out). All puppies will be exposed to various people, surfaces, and experiences (car rides, crate training, etc.), before going to their new homes.

Salty Duck Labradors will take care of registering ALL puppies for the buyers with AKC.
What does this mean??? Our goal is to make sure that 100% of the puppies from our litters are registered properly with AKC. Many times buyers will take paperwork home and never follow through with the registration. Additionally, given that we place puppies on Limited Registration, we want to make sure that this is upheld for each puppy in the registration process. We will place the puppy with the buyer and then take care of initiating registration for each puppy within the first month in the new owner's name. Essentially, you will have no paperwork to fill out in order to register your puppy. After we complete the registration online, you will receive an email confirmation from AKC. The paper copy is mailed directly from AKC to your home, generally within a few weeks of the email confirmation.

*Upon interest in a litter, we will send an application that must be filled out and approved before a service fee will be accepted.
This will help us ensure that we find the right match for you as each puppy and litter is different.
We reserve the right to deny placement of our puppies for any reason, up until the new owner takes possession.
